A wonderful day at Mayors afternoon Tea.

On Sunday 11th August, the Mayor held his first Charity event of his Mayoral Year – an Afternoon tea, held in the Members Marquee of the Shrewsbury Flower Show by kind permission of the Shropshire Horticultural Society.
On one of the hottest days of the year the event was all about raising funds for two Charities the Mayor is supporting, Omega Ending Isolation Ending Loneliness and MHS Shropshire.
Amongst the guests attending was the High Sheriff of Shropshire, Mr Brian Welti; MP for Shrewsbury, Julia Buckley MP; The Mayor of Telford & Wrekin Council, Cllr Ian Preece; The Mayor of Shifnal Town Council, Cllr Ellen Moore; The Deputy Mayor of Ludlow Town Council, Cllr Tim Gill; The Deputy Mayor of Market Drayton Town Council, Cllr Tim Manton; The Mayor of Whitchurch Town Council, Cllr Andy Hall.
Representatives from both Charities spoke passionately about their Charities, explaining what they do, who they support and how donations from events such as this will benefit their organisations.
Jennys Catering provided excellent food and service with a lovely selection of sandwiches, savouries and delicious cakes.
The raffle held during the afternoon raised £717. Huge thanks to the local organisations who very kindly donated prizes:
