Telephone Support
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, and having someone to listen can make all the difference.
Our Telephone Support Service offers a safe, confidential and compassionate space for people who need someone to talk to. You do not need to be in crisis to contact us. Many people call because they are having a difficult day, need emotional support, or would simply benefit from a friendly conversation with someone who will listen without judgement.
Our trained telephone support staff provide direct emotional support, helping people feel heard, understood and connected. We understand that reaching out can sometimes feel difficult, which is why we aim to offer a warm, welcoming and person-centred service where you can talk openly at your own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t know what to say?
That’s absolutely okay. Many people feel unsure about making the first call. Our team will help gently guide the conversation and support you at your own pace.
Is the service confidential?
Yes. Conversations are treated confidentially. If there are circumstances where we are concerned about your safety or the safety of someone else, we may need to share information, but we will explain this to you wherever possible.
Can you provide counselling?
No, our Telephone Support Service is not a counselling service. We offer compassionate listening and emotional support and can help signpost you to counselling or other specialist services if appropriate.
Do I need to talk about my diagnoses and medication?
No. We are a non-clinical charity with a person-centred approach, and we focus on the individual and their experiences. Whilst diagnoses and medication may be something you wish to share with us, we do not focus on these topics unless they are important to you and you wish you discuss them with us. In the event that you wish to discuss these topics, we cannot give professional advice or recommendations towards medications and diagnoses.
Is there a limit to how many times I can call?
We understand that during difficult times people may feel the need for immediate or urgent emotional support and we work with understanding and compassionate to be there for you during these times but in the event that our phone lines are busier than usual and we cannot answer your call straight away, please consider calling Samaritans (116-123), Access Team (0808 196 4501) or NHS (111) who may be able to help.
