Our Volunteers

During the daytime our volunteers work with enthusiasm and creativity to deliver peer-support groups that offer light distraction and meaningful connection in a safe space. Our volunteers come from many walks of life but they are all connected in their ability to be warm, nurturing and empathetic.

They work reactively to support people coming to our peer-support groups, as visitors are welcomed with no need for pre-booking. Our volunteers also support our evening Calmer Cafés, our events and our Wellbeing Vehicle as it provides person-centred support to people living in rural areas.

Visitors to our peer-support groups have commented:

“The volunteers are awesome! It’s a lovely environment – I get friendship, support and information from coming”.

“I am a regular and enjoy the support and atmosphere – I am isolated without my contact with people here”.

“It’s a relaxing environment; it helps me maintain a weekly routine and socialise”.

“I always come here to see people I know and get out of the house. It gives me something to do. People here are good folk”.

“I’ve been to lots of groups now, and they are all the same – amazing! The volunteers are so friendly and approachable. I am so grateful to be included”.
